JWMS iLaunch

About JWMS iLaunch

While iLaunch is a predominantly high school centric club, since computer science is so important and increasingly prevalent today, our JWMS program brings an introduction to coding to John Witherspoon Middle School.

The 2017 - 2018 year is the pilot year of this program. Starting November 27th, we will hold 6 meetings for middle schoolers during the middle school's "activity periods" in the school day. At these meetings, students will learn the fundamentals of computer programming using the Swift language. They will learn things like: What is coding? What is an IDE? What is programming logic? We want to give middle school students a head start in this burgeoning field!

If students demostrate sufficient interest from the first 6 meetings, we will expand the middle school program after school for a few more sessions. If this entire year is successful, we will establish an iLaunch branch at JWMS next year with consistent afterschool meetings to explore computer science and app development with students much more in depth.
